People always ask her how she got started with blogging and as a social media influencer. They are usually looking for a way to make money as a hobby or just because it’s fun. She tells newcomers that they should start with the attitude of “What do I gain from this?” You’ll have a tough road ahead of you.
In the winter of 2013, she started blogging (when she was still in college studying to be a teacher) when something happened that made her stay in bed because she underwent a foot talonavicular fusion. She was searching for things to do during her winter break. As she became increasingly interested in blogging, she began to focus her posts on beauty and fashion. She learned what kind of blog she wanted by reading blogs and following fashion bloggers. She started to take photos for her blog when her foot felt well enough. Her aesthetics and photography were heavily curated shortly after.
She taught English as a special education English resource teacher in a school with low-income students for four years before quitting to focus on her own business. Lauryncakes have evolved over the past seven years. She feels like she is still learning and growing.
