About Jimmy Rane Scholarship
James W. “Jimmy” Rane founded the Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship in 2000 with the straightforward yet impactful mission statement: “It’s about giving something back to society.”
Through grants and education initiatives, the Jimmy Rane Foundation works to build local communities. And since then, he and a great number of sponsors have been able to achieve just that.
Jimmy Rane Scholarship Requirement and Eligibility
To be considered for a Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship, the following requirements must be met:
- Scholarships from the Foundation may only be used at institutions that are listed by the U.S. Department of Education as being accredited by recognized accrediting bodies and that regularly maintain a regular faculty and curriculum, as well as a regularly organized body of students in attendance at the location where educational activities are carried out.
- Employees and immediate family members of Great Southern Wood Preserving, Incorporated, its parent, affiliates, and subsidiaries, as well as their immediate family members, are ineligible.
- Students must attest that they did not participate in intercollegiate sports as a student-athlete during the previous semester (or quarter, if applicable) or academic year and will not do so during the upcoming semester (or quarter, if applicable) or academic year, whether they were receiving a full or partial athletic scholarship or not.
- Scholarships from the Jimmy Rane Foundation are not available to students who are only pursuing degrees through online or distance learning programs.
- High school seniors must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0.
- Applicants to colleges must have a grade point average (GPA) of no less than 2.75;
- Students enrolled full-time as a senior in high school who are on track to graduate in the spring or summer of 2023 and who intend to enrol in college no later than the fall after graduation OR students enrolled full-time as freshmen or sophomores in college who will not be older than 20 by August 1, 2023, and who are on track to earn a bachelor’s degree;
- To be eligible, applicants must be seniors in high school or freshmen or sophomores in college who are citizens of one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
- Candidates must be citizens of the United States or legal residents;
